Deidre Cavazzi is a dance artist and educator in Southern California, currently on faculty at Saddleback College and Mira Costa College.
She is the founder, choreographer, and artistic director for ArchiTexture Dance Company, a site specific, contemporary dance performance group located in Orange County. Deidre's work explores the use of space and architecture within site specific choreography, and she experiments with mixed media and dance installations to create environments for art and movement.
Her choreography is deeply influenced by the locations she selects for her work; recently she has created dances for the new Maya Lin Plaza and the Calit2 Engineering Building, both on the UC Irvine campus, and the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel in Georgia. Deidre choreographed a full-length dance concert on the historic tallship, the Brig Pilgrim in the Dana Point Harbor in 2006, and her company has been invited to perform this work for three consecutive seasons. She also created an evening of literature-based dances within a college library for the 25th National Banned Books Week.
