Deidre tries to integrate the architecture and the location as much as possible into her choreography; before beginning rehearsals with the dancers, Deidre spends time at the site sketching and measuring, looking for patterns, shapes and the interplay between light and shadow at the space.

Site-specific choreography often involves working with many people outside the dance community, and Deidre frequently meets with builders, engineers, electricians, scientists, and other artists as she creates a new work. Deidre's own background as a modern dancer includes study of Laban/Bartenieff fundamentals, release work, aerial dance, capoeira and yoga, and these influences are often seen in her choreography.

Deidre received her MFA in Dance from the University of California at Irvine in June of 2006, and also holds a secondary-level California teaching credential in the areas of Dance and English.
